Undergraduate
B.A. Advertising/Public Relations
The Advertising/Public Relations program provides students with a foundation in both communication disciplines. Our graduates have pursued careers in both advertising and public relations.
Mission Statement: Our mission in the Ad/PR division is to build sound relationships which will, in turn, serve our student body, the professional community we represent on campus, and the Nicholson School of Communication.
Goals: The following goals represent our mission as it directly applies to our majors.
- To prepare students with the knowledge, skills and theory for the professional and ethical practice of public relations and advertising.
- To assist students in choosing appropriate course work within the context of a liberal arts education.
- To interact with professional associations, businesses, the media, and agencies in the placement of both interns and entry level positions.
- To provide faculty assistance in public service and research in the areas of faculty expertise in advertising and public relations.
- To remain current in communication technology and provide laboratory and intership experiences that allow students to obtain currency.
- To maintain a professional advisory council in Ad/PR to assist in the development of the program and advise on curriculum matters.
- To support student organizations that help develop and recognize professional expertise in advertising and public relations.
- To advise and counsel students on both the academic program and the professional fields of advertising and public relations
Internships are often the beginning of successful careers for students. The majority of internships are taken for academic credit and the academic department helps find, approves the internship and supervises the intern. Click Here for Advertising / Public Relations Internships.
