Jim graduated from UCF in 1991 (BA Ad/PR) and got a job with an Orlando advertising agency as a production artist. Eighteen months later, he moved to a different agency, hired as an art director. Two years after that, he and a friend from college started Knight Images, with the UCF Alumni Association as their first client. Knight Images began as a publishing company, producing the very first issue of "Pegasus" magazine, and quickly evolved into a full-service advertising, marketing, creative and design agency.
Since then, Knight (they dropped the "Images" in 2004) and UCF have continued to grow together. Knight has a wide range of clients that span the southeast region, and a satellite office in Southern California. The company employs 35+ employees, and provides in-house client services including print, outdoor, web, electronic, public relations, and more. Through a network of affiliates, Knight is able to also provide media planning and buying, research and tracking, photography, custom illustration, and so on: www.justknight.com.
Jim has been an adjunct instructor in the UCF NSOC since the fall of 2000, teaching one session of Ad/PR Campaigns each semester since then, except for a one-year break in 2004 when he and his wife lived in the UK. He's looking forward to trying out teaching full-time during the upcoming fall and spring semesters.
Jim stays active outside of work, and enjoys flying (he has a private pilot's license), photography, snowboarding, soccer and motorcycle riding. He and his wife Beth have 3 cats: Macallan, Fiona and Angus McHaggis.
